St John’s Lindow is one of eight churches in England to receive funding for a one-year project from the Templeton foundation, under the above general heading. We have a specific project with the theme: Confident Christian Engagement with Science.

We aim to remove some of the barriers to Christians engaging with science and scientists, including those worshipping within our own congregation. So part of our remit is to arrange events and activities for members of the Church family. But also we hope to communicate to many other residents of Wilmslow our enthusiasm for mainstream science, especially given St John’s location at the intersection of the Manchester and Cheshire ‘science corridors’. Some events will be held at the Wilmslow Guild and at Costa Coffee. Above all, the relationship between science and God our Creator will be explored and celebrated. Amongst many other factors vital for human flourishing, Christian faith supplies a matrix within which the scientific enterprise is meaningful and inspiring.

We were recently interviewed on BBC Radio Manchester about this project, which you can listen to here.

If you would be interested in attending any of our upcoming events, please check the events page of the website.
